Coffee at the Coffee Club, Toowoomba

Well, after watching a great movie we decided that a coffee sounded nice. We could sit and discuss the movie, and other things. So we all decided on the Coffee Club in Margaret Street.

Our friends got there first while we filled up with fuel, OUCH that hurt, so when we walked in they had been sitting waiting, but for no more than 5 minutes. The waitress had already asked them for an order and like good friends they preferred to wait for us.

When we arrived the place was jumping, very busy. As… Continue

Good weather for ducks, in Hume Street

We were talking about how it was great weather for ducks, and guess what, driving down Hume Street at the James Street intersection and the traffic cames to a halt.

Two ducks obviously thought it was a great day for a walk. They waddled across the pedestrian crossing, a little confused, but made it, and the best thing is everybody made the effort to allow them across safely.

Heart warming.

'The Dark Night' - Is this entertainment?

The movie is TOO DARK for me. I personally think it goes too far. Exposes the depths of human depravity too far, exposes it in a way that I felt very uncomfortable with.

Now, I have been to see a lot of movies of all types, and some have been fairly graphic and violent, but what this one exposed was something different.

The character of the Joker exposes a particular aspect of humans - that part that stimulates us to have a morbid sense of curiosity, to be engrossed by acts that we would not w… Continue

Who wants to get older?

I agree with this baby. Why do we have to grow up. We get older have more responsiblities and Mum isn't there to hold your hand. It not fair.

It seems that you work all your life to look after your family then when you get older and it is time to have time for yourself, Ha Ha, you can't aford it, you physically can't do things that you… Continue

Do you have a morbid and destructive interest in others suffering?

This morning I walked into an 'office' and someone I knew was laughing and joking about a video he was watching on the internet. I turned to see what he was laughing about and was confronted with graphic images of a bike rider being run over by a semi-trailer. I thought this person had more morals than that and it certainly opened my eyes to his character.

The video was very graphic and at first I thought fake, but quickly realised it was actual footage of the accident take by a traffic camera.… Continue

Lunch at the Farmers Arms Hotel, Cabarlah

Today I had lunch at the Farmers Arms Hotel with my wife and a few family members. Now, I have had meals here before and they have been reasonable and what I would expect from a pub.

Today, it is cold, very cold.

Outside the hotel is a sign that welcomes you in to have lunch in front of their warm open fire. So in we go, right on 12 o'clock, lunch time, and the warm fire is not even lit. We stare at nothing more than a bed of ash. Disappointed we decide to continue anyway, even though it is qu… Continue

It's cold, cold, cold and my ..... are frozen.

Fingers that is. Now what were you thinking?

Wow, it hit hard this morning. Had to take the car for a service this morning and I swear this is the coldest morning so far.

Or is that just because I had to leave the house. After all, I usually don't leave the house at all some days. I am retired after all.....well sort of. Still have to earn a living but when you work from home and decide when you want to work, sort of, you feel retired.

Getting jealous? Haha...I love rubbing it in.

Seriously… Continue

Found the perfect one to cut down at the Water St place. Well needs some work but it fits, is solid & can be split in the right place. Currently covered in pealing paint & loving it. Thanks guys.
My reaction is to obtain a suitable width door, cut it in half, then ad the timber & ledges to make it weather tight. You don't say what style of door is required, but to make a dutch door you would really need a tongue and groove to have the stre...
Did you try that recycle place in Water St where the Jazz club is. A Dutch Door is probably a big ask but may be worth trying.
