What is a group? Well, any group that is non-profit (profits are for the benefit of members) and primarily community based. This includes -
- Sporting clubs
- Special interest groups (bridge, dance, music, movies, theater, pets, etc.)
- Community service groups (Rotary, Lions, Senor Citizens, etc.)
- Public schools
- Student groups in private schools
- Government organisations relevant to our community (council, health, etc.)
If you don't fit into any of the listed groups, don't panic,
contact us and explain what you are about. We will make a determination on your relevance to the community.
All groups that fit into our definition of community based are invited to join
Toowoomba Talk and take advantage of our services without charge.
Why would you bother? Well, many reasons. You get all the usual
Member Benefits, but consider how they relate to you as an organisation -
- You can customise your My Page to reflect your organisations image, and website if you have a separate website.
- You can link to your own website if you have one.
- By joining you can create one or more Groups for all your members. Each group has its own forum where your members can discuss topics relevant to the group. You can restrict these Groups to only your members and control what discussions take place in forums.
- Your members can post photos and videos of your activities and you can organise these into relevant albums for everyones benefit.
- Members can also interact via a Comment Wall on your My Page, and via separate Comment Walls for each Group.
- On your My Page and also on each Groups page you can post relevant information for your members as a whole or just those in each group. The text area supports the inclusion of graphics, links etc., giving you control of the overall appearance.
- In your Blog you can do the same and post ongoing information for all your members.
- In our Events Calendar you can post all the important events held by your organisation, exposing them to the community as a whole.
- And all of this generates interest from other members on Toowoomba Talk. This will promote your group and attract new members.
If you don't have members
- Your presence in Toowoomba Talk exposes your organisation to the very people you service. It helps to bring awareness to your purpose and gives you another venue for providing information they may need to make better use of your services.
- You can still make use of a Blog to provide ongoing information about your activities.
- You can communicate through Photos, and even better Videos to give a very personal approach. Videos are a great way to communicate a message.
- You can still post events in the Events Calendar that may be relevant, such as seminars etc.
We are sure that with a little thought you can see many ways that as a group you can utilise the features of
Toowoomba Talk to benefit your members, and to generate interest in your activities by others.
